Quick Answer
In short: AERB governs radiation — HBOT is about pressure & oxygen
AERB — the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board — governs equipment that emits ionising radiation, such as X-ray and CT machines. A hyperbaric oxygen chamber uses pressurised oxygen and produces no radiation, so AERB clearance is usually not the applicable pathway. Buyers often ask about AERB because it is the compliance body they have heard of for medical equipment, but for a chamber the meaningful standards are around pressure vessels, electrical safety and oxygen handling.
That does not mean “no compliance.” For a clinic or hospital, a chamber sits inside your facility’s equipment, fire-safety and electrical requirements, and clinical governance. As your supplier and installer we provide the manufacturer documentation, pressure and build certifications, and installation records you need — and we flag which requirements apply to a home versus a clinical install. We supply and commission the equipment; final facility clearances rest with your institution and its consultants.
For X-ray/CT — not for oxygen chambers.
Build & pressure certification is the real standard.
Safe wiring and oxygen handling matter most.
Clinics: fire safety + governance, not AERB.

What Compliance Actually Applies to a Hyperbaric Chamber in India
Why AERB usually does not apply
AERB’s remit is ionising radiation. Because HBOT chambers pressurise air or oxygen and emit no radiation, they generally fall outside AERB licensing. If a supplier tells you a chamber “needs AERB approval,” ask them to explain why — it is often a misunderstanding. The certifications that genuinely matter are the manufacturer’s pressure-vessel and build standards, which we provide with every unit.
Pressure-vessel and build certification
A chamber is a pressure vessel, so the documentation buyers should insist on covers the shell rating, valves and safety systems, and conformity marks from the manufacturer (for example CE/ISO documentation on imported units). We supply only genuine chambers with this paperwork, which is what a facility’s safety officer or a hospital’s biomedical department will actually ask to see.
Electrical, oxygen and fire safety
Oxygen supports combustion, so safe oxygen handling, correct electrical supply and adherence to fire-safety norms are the practical compliance points — especially in a clinic. We advise on the electrical circuit, oxygen concentrator pairing and placement at installation, and coordinate commissioning so the unit is set up to the manufacturer’s and site’s requirements.
Clinic and hospital facility requirements
For institutional buyers, the chamber becomes part of your facility’s clinical and equipment governance — biomedical registration, AMC, staff training and local fire/health approvals as applicable to your state and building. We provide the equipment documentation, installation and AMC; the facility-level clearances are handled by your institution with our documentation in hand. We are the equipment partner, not a regulatory authority.
