Quick Answer
How to Read a Hyperbaric Chamber Spec Sheet
Quick answer: The specs that matter most are pressure (ATA), internal diameter, material and zipper build, air changes (ventilation), and the oxygen concentrator paired with it. Reading these consistently lets you compare chambers fairly rather than on price alone. This guide decodes each for Indian buyers.
Chamber spec sheets can look like a wall of numbers, and sellers know a confused buyer often defaults to price. This guide decodes the specifications that actually matter — pressure (ATA), internal diameter, materials and zippers, ventilation (air changes), and the oxygen concentrator — so you can compare units on substance.
Reading specs consistently is the single best defence against overpaying or under-buying. Below we take each spec in turn, explain what it means for your use, and note the India-specific considerations (voltage, spares, warranty documentation) that a global spec sheet leaves out.
Pressure — sets soft (mild) vs hard (clinical).
Comfort and capacity of a soft chamber.
Material, seams and zippers = durability.
Air changes for comfort and CO₂ control.

The Detail
The Specs That Matter
Pressure (ATA) — the master spec
ATA (atmospheres absolute) is the pressure the chamber reaches, and it defines the class. Soft chambers run mild at 1.3–1.5 ATA for home and wellness; hard clinical chambers reach 2.0–3.0 ATA for supervised clinical use. This one number decides most of the price and the use, so read it first — a “1.3 ATA” unit and a “2.4 ATA” unit are different categories, not just different models.
Internal diameter and dimensions
For soft chambers, internal diameter governs comfort and whether a taller user, two people, or extra equipment fit. Common diameters run roughly 27–40 inches; larger is more comfortable but needs more room and costs more. Check the usable internal dimensions, not just the outer size, and confirm it fits your intended space and users before comparing prices.
Materials, seams and zippers
Because a soft chamber is a pressure vessel you enter daily, build quality is safety and longevity. Look at the shell material and denier, how seams are bonded or welded, and the zipper system — zippers are a common wear and failure point. A slightly higher-built chamber with a robust zip and warranty can outlast a cheaper unit several times over, so weigh build alongside price.
Ventilation, concentrator and India specifics
Air changes per hour (ACH) affect comfort and CO₂ control during a session; a chamber needs adequate airflow. The paired oxygen concentrator (litres per minute and purity) determines the oxygen fraction you actually breathe, so confirm whether it is included and its rating. For India, also confirm 220–240V compatibility, warranty documentation and spare-parts availability. We check all of this and translate spec sheets into a like-for-like comparison. We supply equipment only.
