Why a Chamber and a Concentrator Are Not the Same
Pressure versus purity
The core distinction is pressure versus purity. A hyperbaric chamber changes the pressure of the whole environment — it seals you in and raises the ambient pressure above 1.0 ATA, which is the defining feature of hyperbaric oxygen. An oxygen concentrator does nothing to pressure; it draws in room air and removes nitrogen to output a higher concentration of oxygen, delivered through a mask or cannula at normal atmospheric pressure. So the two machines target completely different variables. If what you are after is the effect of increased pressure, a concentrator cannot provide it no matter how pure its oxygen, because the pressure never rises. This is why the two are not substitutes, and why buyers who want hyperbaric conditions specifically need a chamber.
Where each is used — and confusion arises
The confusion often comes from the word "oxygen" appearing in both. Oxygen concentrators are widely used to deliver supplemental oxygen at home or in clinics for people who need higher oxygen concentration at normal pressure. Hyperbaric chambers are used where the pressurised environment itself is the point. Some marketing blurs the line, but at an equipment level they are separate categories with separate purposes. Interestingly, the two can even work together: a soft hyperbaric chamber is sometimes paired with an oxygen concentrator that feeds oxygen into the pressurised chamber — but it is still the chamber that creates the hyperbaric conditions. The concentrator alone cannot.

The decision is simple once the difference is clear. If you want hyperbaric conditions — the pressurised environment — you need a hyperbaric chamber, and a concentrator will not do.
