HBOT Chamber vs Oxygen Concentrator

An HBOT chamber and an oxygen concentrator are often confused, but they are entirely different machines. A hyperbaric chamber raises pressure; a concentrator only purifies oxygen at normal pressure. If you want hyperbaric conditions, only a chamber will do — and we sell them.

HBOT Chamber vs Oxygen Concentrator — The Difference

HBOT chamber vs oxygen concentrator — hyperbaric chamber that raises pressure

Quick answer: An HBOT chamber and an oxygen concentrator are different devices. A hyperbaric chamber pressurises the whole body above atmospheric pressure; a concentrator only delivers concentrated oxygen at normal pressure through a mask. For hyperbaric use you need the chamber — which is what we supply, from ₹3.5 lakh.

Buyers often confuse an HBOT chamber with an oxygen concentrator, but they do fundamentally different things. A hyperbaric oxygen chamber is a sealed vessel that raises the surrounding pressure above normal (above 1.0 ATA), so the user breathes oxygen under pressure — this is what "hyperbaric" means. An oxygen concentrator simply filters room air to deliver higher-purity oxygen at ordinary atmospheric pressure; it does not pressurise anything. One increases pressure; the other only increases oxygen purity.

This matters because if your goal specifically requires hyperbaric conditions, no oxygen concentrator can provide them — only a hyperbaric chamber will. TheHBOT.com sells hyperbaric chambers as a multi-brand aggregator; we do not sell concentrators. This guide explains the difference clearly so you buy the right machine. If it is genuinely hyperbaric conditions you want, a chamber from ₹3.5 lakh is the equipment you need.

🫧
Chamber = Pressure

Raises the environment above 1.0 ATA so you breathe oxygen under pressure.

💨
Concentrator = Purity

Filters air to higher-purity oxygen, but at normal pressure only.

🚫
Not Interchangeable

A concentrator cannot create hyperbaric conditions — only a chamber can.

Why a Chamber and a Concentrator Are Not the Same

Pressure versus purity

The core distinction is pressure versus purity. A hyperbaric chamber changes the pressure of the whole environment — it seals you in and raises the ambient pressure above 1.0 ATA, which is the defining feature of hyperbaric oxygen. An oxygen concentrator does nothing to pressure; it draws in room air and removes nitrogen to output a higher concentration of oxygen, delivered through a mask or cannula at normal atmospheric pressure. So the two machines target completely different variables. If what you are after is the effect of increased pressure, a concentrator cannot provide it no matter how pure its oxygen, because the pressure never rises. This is why the two are not substitutes, and why buyers who want hyperbaric conditions specifically need a chamber.

Where each is used — and confusion arises

The confusion often comes from the word "oxygen" appearing in both. Oxygen concentrators are widely used to deliver supplemental oxygen at home or in clinics for people who need higher oxygen concentration at normal pressure. Hyperbaric chambers are used where the pressurised environment itself is the point. Some marketing blurs the line, but at an equipment level they are separate categories with separate purposes. Interestingly, the two can even work together: a soft hyperbaric chamber is sometimes paired with an oxygen concentrator that feeds oxygen into the pressurised chamber — but it is still the chamber that creates the hyperbaric conditions. The concentrator alone cannot.

Which should you buy?

The decision is simple once the difference is clear. If you want hyperbaric conditions — the pressurised environment — you need a hyperbaric chamber, and a concentrator will not do. If you only want higher-purity oxygen at normal pressure, that is a concentrator, which is a different product we do not sell. We are honest about this: if a concentrator is what your situation calls for, a chamber is the wrong purchase, and we will say so. But if it is genuinely hyperbaric use you are after, a chamber is the equipment, and we sell the full range from ₹3.5 lakh. HBOT equipment should be matched to its intended use before purchase, as bodies such as the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society note.

Buying the right chamber

If a hyperbaric chamber is what you need, the next step is choosing the right type — soft for mild home and wellness use, hard for clinical protocols — which we help with as a multi-brand aggregator. Tell us your intended use and we will confirm whether a chamber is genuinely what you want and, if so, recommend the right one and return a delivered India price. Because we sell chambers and not concentrators, we have no reason to talk you into hyperbaric equipment you do not need — but where hyperbaric is the goal, we make sure you buy a genuine chamber that delivers it, with warranty and support across India.

Answer these and we will confirm whether a chamber is what you need.

Quick Buyer Checklist

Your goal — Pressurised (hyperbaric) conditions, or just higher-purity oxygen?

Pressure — Do you specifically need above-normal pressure? That means a chamber.

Setting — Home, wellness or clinical?

Budget — Chambers from ₹3.5 lakh; concentrators are a separate product.

City — Where should we deliver a chamber, if that is what you need?

HBOT Chamber vs Oxygen Concentrator — FAQs

Common questions about the two machines.

A hyperbaric chamber raises the pressure of the whole environment so you breathe oxygen under pressure — this is hyperbaric oxygen. An oxygen concentrator only filters air to higher-purity oxygen at normal pressure. They target different things and are not interchangeable.
No. A concentrator cannot create hyperbaric conditions because it does not raise pressure. If you want hyperbaric use, only a chamber will do.
No. We sell hyperbaric chambers as a multi-brand aggregator. If your need is genuinely hyperbaric, we can supply the right chamber; if it is a concentrator you need, that is a separate product we do not deal in.
Sometimes a soft chamber is paired with an oxygen concentrator feeding oxygen into the pressurised chamber, but it is the chamber that creates the hyperbaric conditions. The concentrator alone cannot.
We are a multi-brand aggregator and source from OxyHealth and Summit to Sea (soft and portable), Sechrist (hard monoplace), and Perry Baromedical and Fink (hospital-grade multiplace). We compare all of them against your requirement rather than pushing a single brand.
